WebMay 12, 2024 · Now, in addition to light obscuration and membrane microscopic methods, USP 1788 provides new guidance on the use of flow microscopy for the determination of particulate matter. USP 1788 revision reinforces the idea that complimentary, orthogonal tests must be paired with LO when used alone. WebOur aim was to show the feasibility of minimizing the sample expenditure required for light obscuration similar to the new USP settings for standards and pharmaceutically relevant samples (both proteins and small molecules), without compromising the data quality.

WebLight-obscuration particulate matter testing uses a liquid particle counter machine that, based on the principle of light scattering, allows for an automated determination of the size of particles in a sample and the number of particles according to size. WebWhile the previous version of USP <1788> only covered the testing requirements for Optical Light Obscuration testing and Microscope testing, the revision expands the scope of testing requirements to include newly viable technologies such as Flow Imaging and new therapeutic protein solutions.
