Five people were tragically killed as a result of the crash - pilot, flight nurse, flight paramedic, the patient and his wife. WebThe 2008 Med Flight crash killed Dr. Darren Bean, nurse Mark Coyne and pilot Steve Lipperer. The three men left Madison at 8:38 p.m. to deliver an 86-year-old patient from Prairie du Chien to Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse because that hospital’s helicopter was busy. The patient died a few hours later at the hospital.
